1. Scope of Application

These Terms & Conditions apply to all language courses, private lessons, services, consultations, trial lessons, and online bookings provided by Roth Language Atelier.

By registering for a course (online, email, phone or in person), the student or legal guardian agrees to these Terms & Conditions.

2. Registration & Contract Formation

A contract is formed once:

The student submits a registration request Roth Language Atelier confirms the registration in writing (email accepted)

From this moment, course fees become due.

If a course is fully booked or cannot be accepted, the student will be notified as soon as possible.

3. Payment Conditions

  • After registration is confirmed, an invoice will be issued.
  • Payment deadline for private clients: 14 days
  • Payment deadline for corporate clients: 60 days
  • Students may begin their course before payment is received, but the issued invoice remains legally binding and must be paid by the due date.
  • If payment is overdue, Roth Language Atelier may suspend participation and may charge reminder fees.

4. Group Courses

Course Structure

  • A1–B1: 2 × 16 lessons of 90min per session (half-level)
  • B2–C2: 2 × 20 lessons of 90min per session (half-level)
  • Morning courses: 32 or 40 lessons of 90min or 120min per level

In exceptional cases or special courses such as conversation courses, exam preparation etc. the course structure might be changed.

 

Cancellation by Student

If a replacement student is found, fees may be reduced.

Absences (holidays, illness, travel, work) are not refundable or replaceable.

Cancellation by the School

Lessons cancelled by Roth Language Atelier (e.g., teacher illness) will be rescheduled or credited. No further compensation is provided.

5. Private & Semi-Private Lessons

Duration

  • Adults: 60 / 90 / 120 minutes
  • Children: 45 or 60 minutes

Package Terms

  • Minimum purchase: 8 lessons
  • 32-lesson adult packages receive a 5% discount
  • Trial lessons are billed separately at regular rates

Cancellations

  • Minimum 24 hours’ notice by email → info@languageatelier.com
  • Late cancellations or no-shows are fully charged (including illness/emergency)
  • Semi-private rescheduling requires agreement from all participants

Validity

  • 8-lesson packages: valid 14 weeks
  • 32-lesson packages: valid 12 months
  • Extensions are possible if requested in writing before expiry
  • Unused lessons after expiry are forfeited

Cancellations with the teacher directly are not valid; only cancellations made by email to the school are accepted.

6. Online Lessons

Students are responsible for their own:

  • Internet connection
  • Device functionality and software
  • Headset, microphone, and camera setup

Missed classes due to technical problems on the student side are charged normally.

7. Materials & Intellectual Property

  • Books and external learning materials are not included unless stated
  • All course materials remain the intellectual property of Roth Language Atelier
  • Sharing, copying, or recording materials requires written permission

8. Student Conduct

Respectful, cooperative behaviour is expected. We may exclude students who:

  • behave disruptively
  • show repeated misconduct
  • endanger safety or well-being of others

In such cases, no refunds apply.

9. Health, Safety & Insurance

Students are responsible for personal accident, health, and liability insurance. Roth Language Atelier is not liable for:

  • Lost or damaged personal belongings
  • Incidents caused by negligence
  • Technical failures beyond our control

10. Privacy & Data Protection

Personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, published on our website.

11. Certificates & Progress

Completion certificates may be issued upon request if:

  • The full course is attended, and
  • The student meets the level requirements

Teachers regularly monitor progress but cannot guarantee a specific exam result.

12. Public Holidays & Official Closures

Lessons falling on official holidays or unexpected closures will be compensated by replacement lessons

13. Force Majeure

We are not liable for disruptions caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as:

  • Natural disasters
  • Government restrictions
  • Widespread technical outages

If prolonged, the school will offer reasonable alternative solutions.

14. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms & Conditions at any time. The version published on the website at the time of booking applies.

15. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms & Conditions are governed by Swiss law. Exclusive place of jurisdiction: Zurich, Switzerland.
